Sister
Eleanor Huff was born April 3, 1920 to Willard and Katie Gunter
Thompson. She attended school in Stites, Idaho, graduating as
Valedictorian of the Class of 1938.
Eleanor
and Earl Huff were united in marriage July 16, 1938. They had a son,
Will Huff, a daughter Audrian Huff, and six grandchildren, all of which
survive her. Earl passed away in 1978.
Sister
Eleanor joined the Zenith Rebekah Lodge in October 1938. She later
transferred to Mizpah Rebekah Lodge No. 12 in Grangeville. Sister
Eleanor was a diligent worker, and served in every station of the lodge.
She also served as Lodge Deputy, and in 1964 as District Deputy
President. Sister Eleanor was Assembly Flag Bearer in 1965. She
wrote the Tribute to the Flag, which was presented by her home lodge as her
addendum.
Nampa,
Idaho was the scene of Sister Eleanor's installation as Rebekah Assembly of
Idaho President in 1972, escorted by the Mizpah Lodge Drill Team. She
served several years on the Home on the Hill Board of Directors, starting in
1975. Ger contributions to the Rebekah Lodge are too numerous to
enumerate. Sister Eleanor's last stations was Lodge Chaplain.
Sister Eleanor and Brother Earl were instrumental in the formation of the
Grangeville Theta Rho Club.
She
was also active in many other organizations, a few of which were Eastern Star,
Jobs Daughters, DeMolay, Eagles and Daughters of the Nile.
Sister
Eleanor Huff Passed away November 14, 2002. Mizpah Lodge officiated at
her Memorial Service in teh Prairie View Cemetery. She was one to always
offer a helping had to all. She is greatly missed, not only for her
help, but also for her knowledge of Rebekah Lodge work.
