SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM
For several years Unity Rebekah Lodge No. 8 has sponsored
scholarhips to graduating Seniors from Boise Valley to attend
a university or college of their choice in the State of
Idaho. This includes the University of Idaho at Moscow;
Idaho State University at Pocatello; Boise State University at
Boise; Lewis Clark State College at Lewiston; community
colleges such as College of Southern Idaho at Twin Falls and
Northern Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene.
Applications are furnished to area high schools in April and
students may apply by completing the application form and
submiting two letters of recommendation, up-to-date high
school transcripts and an essay identifying his or her
extra-curricular activities, leadership experience, goals and
objectives.
Our committee on scholarhips has recognized
students'leadership abilities and extra-curricular activities,
such as volunteering for community affairs, rather than their
grade-point average. We do, however, expect students to
retain an average of 3.2 or better. Scholarship awards
are made prior to graduation ceremonies, so that they may be
announced at that time.
The number of scholarhips to be awarded, and the amount of
same are determined by the lodge each year.
